I know this was a long one but don’t. There were many hikers coming down the trail, many stopping to watch us as we climbed! We will not be doing the full loop trail.
Our review finding and starting the artist bluff trail. We used that one rope to climb 4 different routes. The best lookout is towards the end of the hike,it was really foggy and rainy when we went so we couldn’t really see the mountains but you get an awesome view of the lake below.

As the trail started to descend rockily, i wondered if i'd missed what had been described as an unnamed spur to artist bluff.
We went after it hard rained and the trail was slippery. The last time i did this approach, it was after a full resupply in 2015 on the long trail. Because the trail was said to be fairly easy and gradual, i felt safe bringing the pups along.
